Dog Conquers Mountain and more...

Taken by Leah in Blowing Rock- (We are going to miss Elwood when we leave)

This weekend brought pleasant weather that allowed us to get outside and to go visit a few places as possible wedding sites. We visited the Banner Elk winery and the Eseeola Lodge in Linville with our mom's. We all like both places so it is going to be a tough decision to make. At least we have two years to figure it all out though!

Also, this upcoming weekend we will be returning to D.C. to look at more apartments, seeing as our graduation date is quickly approaching. We hope that the cherry blossoms will still be in bloom next weekend... so check back for pictures.

Hooray for more School!

In his quest for more knowledge, Evan will be pursuing his Masters in Heathcare Administration at George Mason in the fall. We are now looking more closely at areas that we would like to live in the DC area.

This past weekend we also went to the new Ikea store in charlotte and picked out pretty much everything we would possible need to outfit our upcoming small space.

Pleasant Winter Day!

Today was mild for this time of year so we took Elwood with us and went out to Beacon Heights on the parkway and to a couple of other stops.

A Run for Obesity

Evan and his older brother Casey participated in the Krispy Kreme Challenge in Raleigh this past weekend. This was a fundraiser for a childrens charity in which they raised over $35,000 , not to mention the risk of diabetes for over 5,000 participants. These were not the "hot" variety that most of us are used to. Rather the day old, cold and stale kind that don't go down quite as smoothly. Once the run was completed, Evan and Casey had each ingested a dozen (12) original Krispy Kreme doughnuts which equals 2400 calories and 144 grams of fat.

Owners Found

This morning we arrived at school and just happened to see a flyer for a missing dog. Sure enough it was the one we had found on Friday. Her name is "Saige" and we are giving her back to her owners this afternoon. We are very excited that she has someone that loves her and hope they will watch her more carefully in the future :)

A Sweet Stray

Friday afternoon we went on a hike to the fire tower at Moses Cone Park. Mr. Elwood (Evan's roommate's dog) accompanied us and was as excited as usual to go on a walk. About 2.5 miles into our hike we stumbled upon a sweet stray dog. She greeted us and tried to play with Elwood. By the time we made it up to the fire tower she appeared again, so we decided to loop Elwood's leash through her collar and take her with us. Below are some pictures of her. She is about 10 pounds underweight but very well house-trained. We have posted her information on the local humane society but hope to find her a home soon if she is not claimed.

As for now we are happy to have a new dog in our life :) Her new name is Layla

A Snowy Week in Boone

After three days of snow, we finally decided to take some pictures of it! These pictures were taken in Blowing Rock at Bass Lake. The lake was completely frozen so it was quite a sight.

A proposal and an Acceptance

EXTRA! EXTRA!

On a cold and windy
Saturday( 1/10/09) on the Blue Ridge Parkway, a proposal was made by Evan, where upon an acceptance was made by Leah. This joyous occasion was marked by tears from Leah and a great sense of relief by Evan. Additionally, Evan stated " dont we get presents for this?". The moment had been over three years in the making since their igniting of love. Friends and Family were equally excited to hear the news and all began the immediate nagging of having to know plans of the wedding. E&L immediately put to rest these inquiries by informing all parties that "...due to upcoming events like graduation and relocating to a new place, adding the pressures of planning a wedding was something we do not wish to take on in the near future." As of now the couple plans to exchange vows in the summer of 2011 in the mountains of North Carolina.
